Hunted

by Chris Ryan

Red Fox, 2004, 339 pages, ISBN 009946425X

How easy was it to get stuck into this book?
The latest in the Alpha Force series, Hunted follows the 5 teenagers Amber, Li, Paulo, Hex and Alex as this time they attempt to stop ivory poachers in an African game reserve. The book has the same style as others in the series, with lots of action throughout.

Who are the main characters?
The main characters are the 5 teenagers mentioned above, who together have solved many problems worldwide with the help of Alex's uncle John, who organises the team. This time the team are attempting to stop ivory poachers by helping game reserve managers Joe, and his daughter Tessa.

What's the storyline?
When the team start attempting to stop the poachers, they suddenly find themselves in a lot of danger, facing opponents who are prepared to kill at any interference in their lucrative trade. However the Alpha Force team members are determined to stop the poachers, and will use all of their survival skills to the max in order to do so.

How's it written?
The books are probably best suited for younger and middling readers.

Other books by the same author that Tim knows about?
The other Alpha Force books.

The overall verdict is
Well worth a look

Quick Pick
- 08 September 2010 -

This is the third in the 'Tales of the dark forest' series by Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore. A vibrant and enjoyable read which tracks Bertram, a solitary troll who just does not fit into his surroundings; the surroundings in this instance being the Dark Forest and the dank mountain in which he lives, all based around a fantasy land. The book is amusing throughout, and should be enjoyable to all people in the cool-reads age range, but older readers may find it a bit zany.
